Want to make a Footsteps Father’s Day Card that Dad will love? Gather a few supplies and you can create this thoughtful keepsake in no time.
I made this Footsteps Father’s Day Card for my husband two years ago for his first Father’s Day and he loved it! He actually teared up a little reading the Footsteps poem. To make the card even more special, I added our son’s footprint to the inside of the card.

Footsteps Father’s Day Card Instructions:
I have a stack of old greeting cards and thank you cards that I reuse for projects like this. Cardstock paper or greeting card paper works as well. Any thicker paper would work just fine for this project. Just cut or fold it to the desired card size. I cut out pieces of the Colorbok Designer scrapbook paper for the front and inside of my card using a paper trimmer. You can use any scrapbook paper you have on hand. Use spray adhesive, adhesive tape or Zots glue dots to affix the scrapbook paper to the card. I used Zots glue dots for this project.
Using a brown sharpie, I colored the chipboard letters dark brown to tie into the scrapbook paper and give the card a masculine feel. I used the Zots glue dots to stick the letters to the front of the card.
Before you get started, make sure to have wipes or paper towels handy for clean-up with the footprints. I learned this the hard way! Lol! Next, you’ll want to open your ink pad and lay out a few sheets of paper just in case you don’t get it perfect on the first try. Round up your kid(s) for footprint time. I found this was easier to do at the table and with an assistant as my son was only ten-months-old at the time. Luckily for me, my mom was available to help me with holding the baby so I could direct his foot to the paper and press down for the footprint.
If your child is older it might be easier to do this on the floor. Do this a few times until you are satisfied with the footprint. On one piece of paper, you should be able to get several footprints. Then once you are happy with the results you can choose your favorite one out of the lot.
Cut around the footprint getting as close as possible to the edge without going over. Stick the footprint to the inside of the card using the adhesive of your choice.
I found the printable “Footsteps” poem here. You could also type it out and change the font if you wish. Print and cut out the footsteps poem and stick it to the other side of the card. Sign and date the card and you’re done!
I love making handmade cards for my husband with sweet quotes and pictures of our son. It adds such a nice personal touch and turns the card into a treasured keepsake.
