Looking for a cool DIY gift for your beer-loving significant other, relative or friend? These DIY etched pint glasses will be a definite hit! These pint glasses look custom ordered (not “homemade”) and are sooo easy to make. I made these etched pint glasses as party favors for my husband’s beer share birthday party that I threw for him. The glasses were a huge hit and everyone loved the thoughtful gift. I even made a cute little sign to go with the glasses. You can get the free printable for the sign at the bottom of this post if you’d like to make your own.

What you’ll need:
- Pint Glasses
- Adhesive Stencils
- Etching Cream
- Gloves
- Protective Eyewear
Filling (Optional):
- Wilton Party Bags
- Pretzels
- White Cheddar Popcorn
Start by washing the glass and drying it thoroughly. Avoid putting fingerprints on the glass as it will leave an oily residue and can affect the etching process. Wear safety glasses and gloves while using the etching cream. Follow the instructions on the etching cream to get the best results. I used a straight piece of cardboard to help me line up the adhesive stencils. Secure the stencil sticky side down on the glass.
Use masking tape around the edges to help secure the stencil and prevent the etching cream from getting into unwanted areas. I used the end of my paintbrush to press down firmly on the stencil as well to make sure it adhered to the glass all the way around.
Please note the etching cream and glass should both be at room temperature to achieve the desired results. Shake the etching cream thoroughly prior to use and don’t forget your plastic gloves and protective eyewear.
Apply the etching cream per the instructions. I left the etching cream on for a minute and then washed the glass with warm water. That’s it! One minute and you’re done!
I placed clear treat bags in the glasses and filled them with pretzels and white cheddar popcorn. Kinda looks like a beer doesn’t it?
Out of the fifteen glasses I made, only one of them didn’t turn out well. It looked as though the cream bled through the stencil somehow. I tried the whole process again on a new glass and it worked great! All of the stencils I used are still in excellent condition and can be used again.
